Changing Passwords

How to change your password

When you open your Exchange hosting account, we will assign you a password. You can continue to use that password, or if you want to, you can change it. This page gives step-by-step instructions for changing your password.

Please note, your new password must meet complexity and security requirements or the system will not accept the change. Please see the page on password requirements for the details.

In order to change to a new password, you will need to know your current username and password, and use them to successfully log on. The new password will work next time you log on.

To change your password, you need to use Outlook Web Access (OWA). From the Webville home page, click the link for Outlook Web Access. Enter your current username and password to view your inbox in OWA.

Exchange 2007 clients:

Click the Options button. It is in the upper right hand portion of the OWA interface as seen in the screen shot below. (Click to view screen shot full size)

Choose change password from the list of activities on the left as seen in the screen shot below. (Click to view screen shot full size)

Type your old and new passwords as indicated, then click the Save button at the upper left.

Exchange 2003 clients:

If your mailbox is hosted on our Exchange 2003 systems, the process is slightly different.

Click the options button in the lower left corner, as seen in this graphic.

or

Scroll down to the bottom of the Options page and click the Change Password button, as seen in this graphic.

You may receive one or more warning messages, because the password change page is viewed over a secure (SSL) connection. The first warning message you might receive says, "you are about to view... over a secure connection."

You will see a small web page in a new browser window, as shown in this graphic.

Type your username in the box labeled Account. Type your old and new passwords as indicated, then click OK.

You will see a new page in the small browser window, indicating whether the password change was successful, and providing a reason if it was not. There are any number of reasons why the server might not accept the password change request. Please see the page on password complexity and security requirements. If you want to try again, press the Backspace key on your keyboard to go back to the password change dialog.  If the server does accept your new password, the message will say "Password successfully changed." Close the small browser window.

The new password takes effect immediately and must be used the next time you log on. If you have trouble and get yourself locked out, contact us. We can not see what your password is from the server, but we can change it for you. Please note, even when we reset your password at the server, the new password must meet the complexity requirements.
